PEAT asked Roxann Griffith of the Department of Labor Office of the Assistant Secretary for Veterans Employment and Training Services: If you were riding in an elevator with a Fortune 500 CEO, what’s your pitch for why hiring people with disabilities is important to their company?

>>The pitch for hiring people with disabilities is seeing past what you normally stereotype as a disability. We have a lot of youth with disabilities and a lot of people don’t see past the disability enough to see that that person may have 40 years still to work and with the proper skill training to bridge that gap, they’re able to perform just like anyone else.
