Transcript: Paul Schroeder Makes the Business Case for Implementing Accessible Technology

PEAT asked Paul Schroeder of Aira: If you were riding in an elevator with a Fortune 500 CEO, what’s your pitch for why implementing accessible technology matters?

>>There are a couple of reasons. First of all I think it makes the technology more robust, so if you include technology that can be used by people with a variety of disabilities, people who get at information audio through vision, through other means, who don’t have use of their hands, it means that that technology is more usable by everybody and situationally has that same environment. So sometimes people can’t see their screens. Sometimes people can’t hear the information. Sometimes people don’t have use of their hands, just as a very quick and obvious set of examples, and if you have technology available, developed, and used that meets those needs for people who permanently are in that situation, you have a set of technologies that are able to easily be used by people who are situationally or temporarily in that situation. I’d say that’s the primary reason.
