Transcript: Jay Wyant Makes the Business Case for Implementing Accessible Technology

PEAT asked Jay Wyant, Chief Information Accessibility Officer, Minnesota State CIO Office: “If you were riding in an elevator with a Fortune 500 CEO, what’s your pitch for why implementing accessible technology matters?”

Wyant: When you build a solution, especially an applied type solution, you’re obsolete almost by the time you’re finished building. It’s because there usually are changes in laws, so including accessibility helps you in some ways future-proof your technology. You’re incorporating a concept that accessibility includes universal design, inclusive design and other elements that help you make a more long-lasting, more flexible more versatile technology.
