Transcript: Dana Marlowe Makes the Business Case for Hiring People with Disabilities
PEAT asked Dana Marlowe of Accessibility Partners LLC: If you were riding in an elevator with a Fortune 500 CEO, what’s your pitch for why hiring people with disabilities is important to their company?
>>The massive untapped labor pool that comprises people with disabilities is huge and you don’t want to miss out on that, because people with disabilities make incredible employees and they can truly enhance your work environment. So you just might be hiring your best employee yet. So I would encourage folks to explore that avenue. Having a staff that is skilled and loyal, might just be what many companies need to combat high turnover in a lot of industries nowadays. And a lot of folks in certain brackets that are really kind of jumping around from one organization to the next to just get new experiences, get new skills, this is a way to have more consistency because so many employees with disabilities are loyal and when they fee appreciated and valued they want to stick around.
